Woman hating by andrea dworkin5/10/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Three years after that first book she began work on her second major work, Pornography: Men Possessing Women, from which her reputation has not yet recovered. ![]() It was as if Dworkin’s feminist career had been pitched right into the backlash. She was a radical feminist who published her first book, Woman Hating, in 1974, four years after the Second Wave’s bright- and quick-burning radical feminist movement had published its major works-Kate Millett’s Sexual Politics, Shulamith Firestone’s The Dialectic of Sex, and Robin Morgan’s Sisterhood is Powerful. Until this moment, Dworkin, who died in 2005, had always been famous primarily for her infamy. This was the sense critics shared in the first slate of reviews of Last Days at Hot Slit, a 2019 anthology edited by Johanna Fateman and Amy Scholder that collects excerpts of Dworkin’s major critical works alongside extracts of novels, lesser-known talks, and previously unpublished essays and letters. Andrea Dworkin is having a moment-finally. ![]()

Superman jerry siegel joe shuster5/10/2023 ![]() The boys became fast friends on the basis of their shared Jewish heritage and love of science fiction. ![]() Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster met in 1932 while attending Glenville High School. Related: Superman And Flash Just Recreated Their Famous Race To Save Earth While Nietzsche’s works wouldn’t gain wide popularity until after his death, the term superman became cemented in the popular lexicon. Thomas Common’s 1909 English translation loosely rendered Übermensch as “superman” in the style of George Bernard Shaw’s 1903 play, Man and Superman. The Übermensch is a goal of humanly perfection that, in Nietzsche’s opinion, all mankind should strive to achieve. ![]() The philosophical novel espouses the death of God and suggests man as merely a bridge between animals and the Übermensch. If you thought that Dark Light of Day was graphic, wait until you read this book. If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be rough. Doe doesn’t know who she is or anything about her past but finds herself in King’s grasps and she’s not sure if it’s a good or bad things. What he doesn’t count on is meeting Doe and having her shake up everything that he knows. In this spin off series, we follow King (who we met in the Novella Dark Needs) as he adjusts to life outside prison after being in there for three years. Although originally slated to be a standalone, KING is now a two part series. Warning: This book contains graphic violence, consensual and nonconsensual sex, drug use, abuse, and other taboo subjects and adult subject matter. When they come crashing together, they will have to learn that sometimes in order to hold on, you have to first let go. Homeless, hungry and desperate enough to steal, Doe has no memories of who she is or where she comes from.Ī notorious career criminal just released from prison, King is someone you don’t want to cross unless you’re prepared to pay him back in blood, sweat, pu$$y or a combination of all three. The second book, Tyrant, is set to come out in August. ![]() King is the first book of a duology that centers around a character that we met at the end of the novella, Dark Needs. The hotly anticipated new book by TM Frazier is now available. ![]() ![]() ![]() Figuratively, it's the door we all open when we make the sometimes scary decision to reach out to another human being. Literally, it's the door to the girls' bathroom at school, where she finds Colleen Pomerantz (a kind, sensitive girl and not one of the usual 7th grade criers) sobbing over a problem with a friend. This story begins Emma Jean Lazarus opens a door. I've already brought the book back to the library, but I wanted to add that in the author's bio in the back inside cover of the book, she writes something about how we're all trying to communicate with one another and some of us have a more difficult time than others, and that message was part of what she was trying to convey in this book. I hope that there are more Emma-Jean books and this story would also make a wonderful movie if it was done right. I do have a slight quibble with how neatly certain events got wrapped up at the end, but I just love this book, and I fell in love with Emma-Jean. Emma-Jean's bird was yet another appealing character. Colleen and the other middle school kids are also interesting, and I appreciate how the adult characters are more fleshed out than they are in some kids’ books. ![]() Emma-Jean is an endearingly strange (strange = extraordinary, remarkable, singular) character. ![]() This book is utterly delightful, sweet, and very smart. ![]() November 9 by colleen hoover5/10/2023 ![]() ![]() Where they can use the Remote Upload feature. Smith tells her story from four different perspectives, each one appearing three different times: Eve, her second husband Michael, and two children from her first marriage, 17-year-old Magnus and 12-year-old Astrid. It shows how little solid information we have about anything and how our most prized opinions may be based on very incomplete knowledge. I’ve always liked books that tell the same story from multiple perspectives because you can see how people react to the same situation in different ways or how they interpret a situation differently given their varied preoccupations and levels of knowledge. Mostly, I liked the book because of the writing, the way Smith captures the consciousness of each character. I finished Ali Smith’s The Accidental the other night, and I’m so glad I finally got around to reading it I’m not quite sure I like the ending, but that’s not a big deal with a book that is not plot driven. ![]() ![]() ![]() She is also a member of Kentucky Romance Writers and Novelists, Inc. ![]() Additionally she is a charter member of the Romance Writers of America Honor Roll.
